28th of April 2010...is going to be an important date in our club history.
That day at 1845 hours, our first official club meeting was held in the club's new premises at Munlochy Village Hall in Munlochy.
It all started on the beginning of January 2010 when an agreement was made between our club and the Munlochy Hall Management committee. The basement on the rear of the building has been rented to our club for five years.
It was just the beginning...
At first, piles of old furnishings, left over by the previous "lodger", had to be removed:
then the place was tidied up, all other rubbish removed and under the watchful eye of Bill Munro hard work began:
- all walls and the ceiling have been covered with plasterboards, cracks filled, sanded and painted.
- new fuse box installed.
- new wiring, sockets and lights have been fitted along with new fire alarms.
- a new main door has been made and fitted.
- floor has been cleaned and painted.
- 5 new work stations have been prepared and placed in the main room.
- an access ramp for the disabled has been made and fitted.
Plans are ambitious and now we just need time to make them real.
There is a team of people who are currently working on getting grants for the club to buy more equipment.
There are plans to make another door for easier access and fire safety.
There is still work going on in the "kitchen" area and toilet and the wood storage room has yet to be prepared...
There is still a lot more work to be done... but together we can do it!!!
