Message from Ulapool Woodturning Centre
Our monthly woodturning demonstration is this weekend, Saturday 25th June 2011, starting at 10am until 4pm, you are all invited to attend, usual format, I will be doing the morning session, making a small oil lamp and a banksia nut vase. The afternoon session will be covered by Jim Kelman from the Highlands woodturners club on the Black Isle, he will be demonstrating the art of pen and pencil making. Afternoon session will start at about 1.45pm until 4pm or thereabouts. Bring your packed lunch if you intend to stay all day, the demo room will remain open throughout the day. Ample on site parking and bring a friend.

Kessock Bridge
We have received an email from the local Chamber of Commerce re the above. From Sunday 19th June for a period of 8 days the bridge will be reduced to 1 lane allowing essential repairs to take place. Strong possibility of delays and advising if possible to avoid using the bridge at peak times.

Monthly woodturning demonstration in Ulapool Woodturning Centre is this weekend Saturday 28th May starting at 10am and you are all invited to attend. As usual Alec will be doing the morning session with a bit of natural edge work in the shape of a mushroom in the first period, followed by a pin cushion in the second, the afternoon session which will start at approx 2pm has guest turner Tony Stott demonstrating the making of small lidded boxes, and should finish around 4pm. Plenty parking on site and bring your pack lunch.

26th March is the first demonstration day of the year at the Ullapool Woodturning Centre. Demo starts as usually at 10am and end at 4pm, with a break mid morning and again for lunch, you may wish to bring a pack lunch, the facility will remain open throughout the whole day. The day is an opportunity for all to peruse the shelves in the showrrom for wood, tools and other accessories and no matter your woodturning experience you will come away at the end of the day having learned a bit more about the craft of woodturning. As in previous years the club will be supporting Cross Roads Caring for Carers Marymas Fair by manning a table in one of the craft tents. The fair is being held at the Northern Meeting Park, Inverness, on Saturday 18th June from 1100 to 1700hrs. The proceeds from the sale of turned work will be given to the charity to help in their valuable work.

Note for you diary: Programme for April, May and June 2011 has been announced. The club for a trial period has set aside a number of Saturdays for training sessions, principally for complete beginners and those just starting woodtuning but who maybe lack confidence . Hopefully these sessions will be of benefit to participants.
