Report of the Meeting 28th May 2026

Tonight’s meeting was an opportunity to consider the new Health and Safety handbook and to consider safe working, both in our workshop and in our home workshops. Nick and Keith took us through pre use checks for lathes, and then looked at tackling fires, and risk assessments.

A serious topic for tonight, with a hands on “spot the danger” exercise.

Our long anticipated safety awareness evening led by Nick and Keith.

We will talk about the way the club tries to ensure everyone is able to work safely.

Bring your horror stories or at lease could have been horror stories.

Marco is leading the evening on the subject of box making. You can be sure of a twist !

This is also the second Shield Competition with the theme Kitchen Utensil(s) So bring your kitchen roll holders, salt and pepper pots, spoons, corkscrews, scoops and anything else that you can think of !

Report on Meeting 30th April 2026

On a beautiful summers evening in early spring(!), members cam to show some of their work, offer guidance and ask for advice on this ” Show and Tell ” evening.

Advice was offered as to tools that could be adapted and used for particular things such as remounting, and carving close concentric rings. In the sprit of lessons learned with Stewart Furini, Alec showed us another colour/texture medium set. Here are a small number of photographs of some of the things we had a look at.
