Our meeting this week 09-12-2021 a demonstration by Andy Walters.

Start time of 6.45pm

Our meeting this week on Thursday 9th December 2021 is going to be a demonstration by Andy Walters, Andy is going to be demonstrating how to make a Candle Lantern. Being that I was unsure of what Andy meant by saying he would make a Candle Lantern, I asked him to send me a couple of pictures if he had them, the pictures duly arrived and you can see them below.

Andy is the proprietor of Black Isle Woodturning and runs training classes for would be turners, most of his other work is from commissions, Andy has demonstrated for our club on several occasions over the years and was asked by Jim Kelman to do a demo in 2020 which was cancelled due to the Covid restrictions, however Andy will be attending this time and we hope you enjoy his presentation.

Here are a couple of pictures that Andy sent as a preview of what he is going to make.

This is one of Andy’s Candle Lanterns, this example is unlit.
Another view of Andy’s Candle Lantern, this time it’s been lit.

We are hoping for a good turn out as usual, there will be the usual raffles for sale and refreshments will be available by donation. Our next meeting will be on the 23rd December 2021, after a short talk from myself and possibly some of the other committee members the meeting will be for the Christmas raffle draw, there will be no turning at this meeting, our first meeting of the new year will be on the 6th January 2022 and it will have Douglas Stewart demonstrating the making of some pieces of jewellery.

We are now asking for your yearly subscription to be paid, the rates have not changed, £40 for a single membership and £50 for a family membership, Cliff will be available on Thursday if you wish to make your payment in cash, or you can do a bank Transfer, details to follow. We will allow you up to the AGM on the 3rd of February to renew your membership, anyone unpaid after that date will go back on the waiting list.
